Olaf Unverzart studied fine art photography at Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig, has taught photography at the Akadmie der Bildenden Künste Nürnberg. Currently he is teaching at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and HM in Munich.
He shoots portraits, reportage, empty landscapes, as a kind of visual biography.
Mainly he is working on free long time projects and calls himself then as the best if nobody is teeling him what to shoot.
The medium photobook is an important part of his artistic work.
He collects and loves photo books, is passionate about road cycling and tries to be always close to any mountains. Unverzart has exhibited widely since 1998, his photographs have been published in numerous publications worldwide. He has had a weekly photo column in ZeitMagazin. His eight monographie will be published in 2019. He received the lead award in Gold twice, 2010 the Deutsche Fotobuchpreis for his book Leichtes Gepäck. He was one of six german photographers doing an artist in residence projekt about Stephen Shores work in Los Angeles and was resident at the Casa Baldi/Villa Massimo in Rome 2014.
He lives in Munich and Oberpfalz.
